The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

I'm right in the middle of reading this book , written by Carson McCullers.  It gives me a very 'To Kill A Mockingbird' feeling, and I love how the story switches between all the main characters.  My favourite character so far is Mick Kelly, the fourth child in a family of six.  Her family is poor, and they take on boarders to earn a bit of money.  She is fourteen years old, intelligent and ambitious, thin, tall, with tomboyish short blonde hair and bright blue eyes.  She is constantly absorbed by daydreams and private thoughts like becoming a concert pianist and travelling the world, or at least getting out of the small Southern town she lives in.
